Beichen Becomes a Pilot Again! The Chunli Sunshine Program Settles in Beichen Hospital, Bringing Surgical Treatment to More Patients

Today, I want to first tell you a story about healing the sick and saving lives, a story of boundless love.
Walking into the orthopedic ward of Beichen Hospital, snippets of unfamiliar language and the aroma of butter tea could be smelled from afar. Patient Ze Renyangji of bed 33 was conversing with her family in Tibetan while brewing butter tea brought from her hometown. Accompanying Ze Renyangji to Tianjin was her swollen left knee.

Zeren Yangji, 55 years old this year, is a villager from Shangyi Village, Chidu Town, Dingqing County, Tibet Autonomous Region. He suffers from severe osteoarthritis in his left knee and can only walk with the aid of a crutch or help from others. Enduring the pain and having no stable source of income, Zeren Yangji prays every day for a little more care from heaven.

When Ze Renyangji had lost all hope of recovering from her illness, some good news reached her: she could fly to Tianjin for free surgery at Beichen Hospital! This good news rekindled Ze Renyangji's hope for life.

As the counterpart hospital providing assistance to the People's Hospital of Dingqing County in Qamdo, Tibet, Beichen Hospital has significantly improved the local medical treatment capacity since its medical aid teams were dispatched to Dingqing in batches. It has been hailed as the "permanent medical team" by local residents. With the support of caring people from all sectors of society, the hospital is now helping more patients receive treatment through the Chunli Sunshine Program.
After carefully analyzing and examining Tsering Yangkyi's condition, the medical staff formulated a detailed surgical treatment and rehabilitation plan, with all preparations completed. He Sen, Director of the Department of Orthopaedics and Joint Surgery of Beichen Hospital, performed the surgery on Tsering Yangkyi, which turned out to be a great success! Now, Tsering Yangkyi is able to walk on the ground and her mental state has improved considerably.

Tsering Yangkyi was able to undergo surgery so quickly thanks not only to Beichen Hospital, but also to the Chunli Sunshine Program. Recently, the licensing ceremony of the Chunli Sunshine Program of the China Charity Federation was held at Beichen Hospital, marking the hospital as the first designated hospital for this program in Tianjin.

Attention, patients with joint diseases who are from low-income families!
When a patient seeks medical treatment at Beichen Hospital and is diagnosed by a physician as requiring joint replacement surgery, the physician will report the patient’s condition to the Medical Administration Department of Beichen Hospital for filing. The department will then submit the report to the China Charity Federation for review and approval. Once approved, the patient can undergo surgery at Beichen Hospital, with the cost of artificial joint consumables covered by the Chunli Sunshine Program.
Launched in 2009, the Chunli Sunshine Program is a joint initiative of the China Charity Federation and Beijing Chunli Zhengda Co., Ltd. Over the past eight years, this charitable program has established partnerships with more than 40 designated hospitals across 18 provinces, municipalities directly under the Central Government, and autonomous regions nationwide. It has successfully performed over 500 artificial joint replacement surgeries, helping impoverished patients alleviate pain and reduce medical burdens. The program embodies the effective integration of precision medicine and targeted poverty alleviation, earning positive social recognition and acclaim. Tsering Yangkyi became the first beneficiary of surgical treatment at Beichen Hospital after the program was introduced there.

This year, Beichen Hospital has actively advanced the in-depth development of the comprehensive medical and health system reform.
