He became another beneficiary

Recently, Mr. Wei, 59 years old, has become a beneficiary of the intelligent minimally invasive orthopedic technology and the "Chunli Sunshine Program" charity initiative.

Mr. Wei had suffered from left hip pain for two years, with the discomfort worsening significantly over the past year. He was only able to walk with the aid of crutches or assistance from others in daily life. Tormented by the illness, he was plunged into profound distress and sought conservative treatment at multiple hospitals, but none yielded satisfactory results.

Subsequently, Mr. Wei and his family came to the Intelligent Minimally Invasive Orthopedics Department of Luohe Orthopedic Hospital (the Second Affiliated Hospital of Luohe Medical College) upon its reputation. Following an admission CT scan, the doctors found that his left femoral head had deformed and collapsed, with narrowing of the joint space, requiring a total hip arthroplasty. However, due to the patient's family financial difficulties, the cost of the artificial joint replacement put him in a dilemma.

Upon learning of the situation, Wan Lei, Director of the department, promptly reported the patient's medical condition and family circumstances to the hospital and actively assisted the patient in applying for the "Chunli Sunshine Program" initiated by the China Charity Federation.

After the approval of the application, the cost of the patient's artificial joint prosthesis was waived. Led by Wan Lei, the Intelligent Minimally Invasive Orthopedics team successfully performed a left total hip arthroplasty on the patient. The patient has achieved excellent postoperative recovery and is now able to walk normally.

Both the patient and his family broke into long-absent smiles. The patient said emotionally, "I never expected such a favorable policy that truly benefits ordinary people. I would like to express my gratitude to the hospital, Director Wan Lei and all the medical staff. Without your wholehearted dedication, I might never have been able to stand up again."

■ Chunli Sunshine Program

The "Chunli Sunshine Program" is a medical charity initiative jointly launched by the China Charity Federation and Chunli Medical, aiming to waive the cost of artificial prostheses for underprivileged patients with severe joint diseases. Across the country, the program selects hospitals with advanced joint replacement technology and rich clinical experience as designated medical institutions. Its core mission is to provide effective medical treatment for underprivileged patients suffering from joint diseases by supplying artificial joint prostheses, thereby addressing a key people's livelihood concern.

On December 27, 2017, the "Chunli Sunshine Program" was officially launched at Luohe Orthopedic Hospital (the Second Affiliated Hospital of Luohe Medical College). Thanks to this initiative, Mr. Wei has become one of the numerous patients in the city who have received free total hip arthroplasty.

Helping underprivileged patients rebuild confidence and embark on a journey to health is a vivid practice of orthopedic medical professionals fulfilling their original aspiration and mission. The Party Committee of Luohe Orthopedic Hospital (the Second Affiliated Hospital of Luohe Medical College) will continue to integrate thematic education with its core work, focusing on addressing the urgent, difficult, anxious and pressing issues of patients and their families. It will actively do practical things, good deeds and solve problems for the general public, adding luster to thematic education through concrete actions and safeguarding the health of the people.
