Weinan | Municipal Orthopaedic Hospital Launches "Winter Warmth Campaign" in Plateau Areas to Follow Up with Beneficiaries of the Chunli Sunshine Program

On November 27, Chen Dongguang, Project Director of the China Charity Federation, Zhou Xinmin, President of the Linwei District Charity Association, Mu Xuansheng, Vice Chairman of the Linwei District Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and President of Weinan Orthopaedic Hospital, Zhang Bin from the District Poverty Alleviation Office, Feng Junzheng, Secretary of the Party Committee of Yangguo Town, as well as the leadership team of Weinan Orthopaedic Hospital, drove to Yangguo Town, Linwei District to launch the "Winter Warmth Campaign".The main purposes of this campaign were to follow up with some beneficiaries of the Chunli Sunshine Program since its implementation at the hospital, learn about the patients' postoperative recovery through field visits, provide health guidance, and further promote the development of the Chunli Sunshine Program. The follow-up group also brought rice, edible oil and flour to the beneficiaries, extended wishes and greetings to them, and delivered sincere care and earnest expectations directly to the hearts of the people.

At each stop, the leaders of the follow-up group personally handed the consolation gifts to the beneficiaries. They also asked in detail about the patients' postoperative recovery and daily living conditions, urged them to take good care of their health, keep warm against the cold, and pay close attention to safety when going out in chilly weather. In addition, they provided careful guidance on functional exercises for the patients’ postoperative rehabilitation. During the visits, the group members exchanged views, summarized the experience gained from the implementation of the Chunli Sunshine Program, and expressed their unanimous commitment to ensuring the program is carried out in a targeted and precise manner.

Mu Xuansheng emphasized that the Chunli Sunshine Program is an initiative launched by the China Charity Federation to help impoverished patients with severe joint diseases receive effective treatment. The program provides free internal fixation materials required for artificial joint replacement surgeries to impoverished patients suffering from severe joint disorders. He noted that if there are villagers in need of such assistance, they can contact the hospital, and Weinan Orthopaedic Hospital will make every effort to relieve them of their pain.

It is reported that after an inspection in 2013, the China Charity Federation designated Weinan Orthopaedic Hospital as the first designated hospital for the "Chunli Sunshine Program" in Shaanxi Province. On April 12, 2014, the Linwei District Charity Association and Weinan Orthopaedic Hospital jointly issued the Implementation Measures for the "Chunli Sunshine Program" of the China Charity Federation, aiming to let the sunshine and rain of charitable love rekindle the hope for a happy life among the majority of patients with osteoarthropathy. This marked the launch of the "Chunli Sunshine Program" in Weinan.

Thus, following its designation as the municipal training center for Chunli artificial joint replacement technology under the Asia-Pacific Hip and Knee Society, Weinan Orthopaedic Hospital was further accredited as an implementing institution for the Chunli Sunshine Program launched by the China Charity Federation.

It is understood that since April 2013, with the Linwei District Charity Association leveraging the Chunli Sunshine Program and full cooperation from Weinan Orthopaedic Hospital, a total of 38 impoverished patients in Linwei District have benefited from the free joint replacement program under the Chunli Sunshine Program of the China Charity Federation at the municipal orthopaedic hospital as of the end of October this year. All patients have achieved good postoperative recovery, generating positive repercussions across the city.This Winter Warmth Campaign not only involved follow-up visits with beneficiary groups, but also saw the follow-up team conduct in-depth surveys in areas including Dawang and Sanguanmiao of Yangguo Town. By screening disadvantaged residents with knee joint disorders, and through registration, science popularization and medical appointment services, the campaign has helped more people access policy support.Meanwhile, this initiative stands as an innovative practice of Weinan Orthopaedic Hospital in the organic integration of medical poverty alleviation, technological poverty alleviation and targeted poverty alleviation.
